Snapshot – Next Generation Europe (NGE) is a cross-border project with workshops and exhibitions organized by Bleiberger Fabrik (Aachen) and Art in Contexture (Heerlen).
The three workshops with youngsters from the Euregio took place between 08-08-2019 and 05-01-2020 In Heerlen and Aachen.
During this project the participants from Germany and the Netherlands documented and discovered urban art and culture by camera.
The young people took pictures and made videos of their urban environment in the cities of Aachen and Heerlen.
They learned basics from digital photography and video making from professionals, got to know each other and the neighbouring cities of Heerlen and Aachen. During the exchange the participants came together over the border and connected with like-minded people by experiencing and keeping record of the culture.
Afterwards the photographs and videos were exhibited at different places in Aachen and Heerlen in 2019.
The exhibitions attracted a divers group of visitors and guided tours for students took place. At the exhibitions and at the different social media platforms, the participants and interested public got to know each other, got in contact and discussed with each other.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic a selection of the photographs taken by the participants will be exhibited online and in the display windows of former “Lust for life” (Komphausbadstraße 10, 52062 Aachen) and different display windows at the Maankwartier (Maanplein, 6412 AZ Heerlen).
